Where are all the philanthropists?

I work to support a number of diverse social enterprises in my work and one thing that has struck me is the lack of philanthropists out there willing to back a social enterprise.
Why they don't?
Because, philanthropists generally tend to have made their money and thus are morelikely to support people who are more like themselves. Thus entreprenuers in profit making organisations are preferred.
Of course, investment is less likely as there are no returns!
Because there is no really pooled, organised group that has a bank of philanthropists who can pick and choose project shtye want to support. For example , I have a number of clinets that are delivering new approaches to music and music teaching in schools, and yet I am yet to find one artist who is willing to back them, we even tried to contact Messers, Geldoff, Bono and the Gorillaz. But the access is not there...
Why they should....
Exposure, Markerting opportunities, genuine CSR practices, and above all because it will encourage other philanthropists to follow suit.
If anyone knows about Music or Arts networks with philanthropists looking to be appraoched please do let me know,
Manni
