Two months old..........and still frightened

'i-genius has been live for two months and its a good time to reflect on what we have achieved and what we need to do.

To date we have members from 42 countries with a roughly equal numbers of men and women.

Most exciting has been the diversity of members and what they are doing from Ryico helping orphans in Rwanda, Ideals-Creative improving communications in Philippines, young doctors in Oman, Make Travel Fair in UK, bespoke experiences' eco lodge in Mozambique, Good Capital financial support from USA, to W8 education in Mexico. From health to human rights to social based photography and film making, even in the short time of two months, i-genius has an amazing community of people doing amazing things.

Our challenge now is to encourage our members to make contact with each other, learn from each others experiences and skills and begin developing the friendships and partnerships to help achieve their goals. We will be up-grading the features of this site and making it easier for members to use. So please, keep posting your comments and ideas on how i-genius could help you.

Along with building a world community of social entrepreneurs and helping people create partnerships, i-genius wants to encourage more people to become social entrepreneurs. We believe that the best way to inspire more people to become innovators is to illustrate the inspiring work our members are doing. Please continue to showcase what you are doing and tell us your latest news.

Two months ago i and our small team in London were both excited and scared of what we were about to start. We were excited about the potential of what i-genius could do, but equally fearful that we might not succeed. The enthusiasm of new members has been a great inspiration to us and helped inform us that we are on the right track. But we have much to do and for the time being, we remain a little frightened.

Dear Tommy, I suggest as follow; if I can be aware of other social entrepreneurs in my country e.g South Africa who are also the members of i-genius portal, it would encourage immediate contact with each other as we are in most cases understand each other's background and cultural lifestyle and hopefully to network with others from different countries...as we duplicate each other's business models and strategies to eradicate poverty and create a healthy environment for all. Again the subject of Mentoring would be addressed and implemented with easy. Regards Mpho Lebogo lobolo institute South Africa

Hi Mpho. Thank you for this suggestion. We are gradually improving the site and hope soon to enable members to create their own networks. The search facility will also be improved soon. So i hope this will help you find others and maintain contact with them. Tommy

Dearest Tommy, I couldn't believe you posted this since February. I must have been a blind man. It's amazing to know what i-genius has achieved jointly and severally in the last 'two' months (now four). I must sincerely congratulate you and your team and every genius of i-genius fame for this innovative and initiative. We have got the right spark and we must let it bring out the desired global flame. I cannot promise anything now because of tight schedule. I'm currently attached to the European Union Election Observation Mission To Nigeria 2007. I'll be more effective after the elections. I've posted two stories already and I hope you have read them. Just a quick one: i-genius must institute what I will call RRA for members to compete for. RRA means Recognition, Reward and Award. People always ask this question in any organisation they find themselves: WIIIFU - What Is In It For Us? I think RRA will take care of WIIIFU. Till after the elections, keep the flag flying. Thank you Moshood for your advise on RRA. I agree. I have also read your latest blog on Rape which is disturbing. Thank you for highlighting this. I hope you have peaceful elections in Nigeria.
