Gael Garcia Bernal and Resist

I was pleased to meet one of my favourite actors, Gael Garcia Bernal as he is preparing for his new film Resist. Resist is a very exciting project and very much the brainchild of the film’s director, Marc Silver.
The aim is not only to produce what will hopefully be an entertaining film in 2009 but to create a movement of people who are in various ways resisting the injustices they experience in their lives. And more interestingly still, the personal stories being uploaded unto http://www.resistnetwork.com will help to shape the making of the film.
If injustices around the world were bad during a period of relative economic prosperity, they will get much worse in a global recession. But what I particularly like about this project is that it is not defensive or depressing; the emphasis is on not only demonstrating resistance to injustices but focusing on the ways people are instigating practical alternatives to the injustices people experience.
I have travelled a lot around Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas and have met many people who would make great case studies for this project. One of the best I have met was Oak in Cambodia and the way he dealt with police corruption in Cambodia. http://www.i-genius.org/member/profile.php/id/339 I hope people like him will share their story.
