Two months passes so quickly

It is two months since the World Summit in Thailand. What has happened?
Well, the participants who went to the Summit seem to have made a great effort to keep in touch with one another and in many cases, various kinds of friendships and working relationships has formed. This is great to see because that was the underlying reason to have the Summit. There has been at least one reunion for about 20 who are based in London and many of the crew from Kaos Pilot from Rotterdam were in London last week. A facebook group was also created and lots of dodgy pics have been posted up – great!
When I returned to London I immediately went to the Skoll Forum in Oxford. This was quite an event with some major speakers including Al Gore and former president Jimmy Carter who incidently now describes himself as a ‘social entrepreneur’. Whilst the quality of the speakers and presentations were excellent, the level of interactivity between the delegates was not so good. The Skoll forum was rather traditional in that you mostly sit and listen with very little real dialogue. The thing that I found most irritating however was the silly grading of different delegates. Some were only allowed in one entrance and some to another etc. Really elitist and ghastly. This aside, it was a mostly very good event.
Last week there was another event in London called ‘SHINE unconference’. This was a much fresher event where the participants were really encouraged to play an active role. I think this approach and the way we organised the World Summit in Thailand is the way events should be organised in the future.
Most of the remainder of the time since I have returned from Thailand has been planning the future of i-genius. Slowly but surely the various pieces are being put in place and soon ready to really work on the partnerships we hope to form in order to make it happen. I hope to be able to write more about this soon.
I’m very pleased that Barry Crisp has joined the team as our new Creative Director. Initially he will be working part time from Tokyo but I hope he will be coming to London at a later stage and working full time. In a few months time we will be seeking to appoint some others.
Ciao 4 now!
