I am the founder and Executive Director of the Goodwill social work centre (NGO), Madurai, India. I am a former professor of social work and Head-Department of human resources management at the Madurai Institute of social sciences, Madurai, India. I received my master’s degree in Social work with HRM as a field of specialization from the Loyola College (University of Madras), Chennai, India in 1971 and Ph. D in social work/HRM from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India in 1988.I hold a Certificate in International interdisciplinary Course on Children’s rights awarded by the University of Ghent, Belgium in 1996. As an academic with 33 years of service, I have actively involved in Professional social work and HRM education and training, social research and field work practice in social work and HRM and have trained many batches of Post graduate students who have specialized in the field of Social work and Human resources management since 1972 at the Madurai Institute of social sciences, Madurai, India. Presently I am a Guest Professor of Social work and Human Resources Management and Senior Advisor at the Department of social sciences/Social work, Lady Doak College, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. I have served as a Visiting Professor of the Department of Management Studies, and the Department of Social work at The American College, Madurai, South India during 2005-2006. I have to my credit more than 100 articles on various social issues including HRM related issues published in national and international journals and books. I have widely traveled abroad to present scientific papers in international conferences and seminars. I am a HRM Educator and research consultant and involved in HRD training activities. My special areas of interest include Professional social work practice, Human resources management, NGO /Civil society governance and management, Project management, training and capacity building for NGOs, Human rights training including child rights, social research etc. I have had wide professional experience in designing curriculum on Social work, Human resources management, HRD -training and Development, Family Life Management, Environmental education for children and Child Rights education and training for school children etc. I have had extensive experience in organizing ‘Intensive Family Preservation (family support services) programs’ for dysfunctional families. I have been actively involving myself in organising networking and capacity building programmes for Indian NGOs in the southern part of Tamilnadu, India. I have served as Lead Researcher of various social research studies undertaken by the Goodwill Social work Centre (NGO), Madurai, India. I was appointed authorized Research Guide by the Madurai Kamaraj University for Ph.D Candidates in the field of Social work and HRM and I have so far guided three candidates who have qualified themselves for the award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) of the Madurai Kamaraj University.Madurai, India. I am the VICE CONSUL of the First children\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Embassy in the World Medjashi- Macedonia. I am an Observer Member of ALNAP, Overseas Development Institute, London, UN and a GU Associate member/Consultant registered with www.globalunification.com. I am a Global Links Initiative {GLI} NETWORKER and have registered as a member from India with www.glinet.org . I am the GLI(UK)\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Tamilnadu Representative in India. I have won the UnltdWorld(UK) Global Impact BRIC(Business, Resources, Insight and Community) award 2009.

THREE Schoolchildren from the Goodwill Social Work Centre win the 2009 World Water Day International Poster Contest
on the theme 'water and culture' organised by Nature-Voice-Our Choice,USA -An art programme organised under the Children's rights through artwork project supported by ART VENTURE,Singapore
Water resource issues and students need for understanding these issues exists in every community in the world – (whether rich or poor, urban or rural, developed or undeveloped).
In celebration of World Water Day, 2009 over 3000 students from 9 different countries participated in the 2nd annual International Poster Contest sponsored by Nature’s Voice Our Choice (NVOC),USA. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Water and Culture’. Educators were encouraged to spend time speaking to their students about the different ways in which water shapes their lives, culture, and values; finding examples in their community.
The greatest number of posters were sent by the Goodwill Social Work Center in Madurai, India. This year Goodwill Social work Centre as part of its 'children's rights through artwork project'suppored by ART VENTURE,Singapore conducted a series of preliminary local contests for school children in and around Madurai,Tamilnadu during 15th February 2009-10th March 2009. Interestingly enough,the response from the children was so encouraging and it was wonderful to see a high proportion of school children participating in the poster contests organized by our centre. Of 2440 posters made by children, 966 posters were selected for submission to NVOC for the 2009 World water Day International Poster contest.
Six posters from international students were selected as winners. Finalists were selected by a panel of judges and the posters were then displayed at the Earth Day celebration on the national mall in Washington DC,USA and voted on by the public. The posters were judged on visual message, impact, and creativity.
Three students from the Goodwill Social Work Centre were selected as winners including:

Drishti A. Desai - Age 13 – Madurai (Lakshmi School)
V. Saran Raj - Age 18 – Madurai (M.N.U.J.N.H.S.S.)

The poster contest is the first phase of NVOC’s 'Students Give Water a Voice' Programme; a three phase project that focuses on giving students an opportunity to combine art, education, scientific exploration, problem solving, social skills, community involvement, and volunteerism into one project that addresses community water resources. This programme is aimed at showing students
the multi sector approach needed to solve community water resource problems and empowering them to find solutions.
Last year 5 students from the Goodwill Social Work Centre were selected as winners of the 2008 poster contest. The Goodwill Social Work Centre is now working with NVOC and the Tamilnadu Water and Drainage Board (TWADB),Government of India to create a Rain Center in Madurai to educate and train local residents in constructing and utilizing rain water harvesting structures. All the winners of 2008 and 2009 will have the opportunity to participate in this project.
In recognition of the participation of children in the preliminary poster contests held in February-March 2009 at the Madurai district level, the Goodwill social work centre selected 123 children from 45 participating schools in and around Madurai and they were awarded first,second and third prizes (age wise and School wise).
An award distribution function was held on Saturday,5th September 2009 at JC Kumarappa Kudil,Gandhi Museum,Madurai,India.All the three international winners and 123 winners at Madurai district level were honoured.The function was attended by all the award winners,their parents and School teachers from respective schools. Award certificates and cash awards in Indian Rupees(equivalent to USD 40) sponsored by the Nature's Voice-Our Choice,USA were handed over to the three International poster contest winners.They were also awarded a certificate of merit and a prize by GOODWILL under the Children's rights through artwork project.
In recogniton of their active participation and achievements all the 123 local winning children were awarded a certificate of merit and a prize sponsored by GOODWILL. All other participants who were not successful in the poster contests were given a certificate of particpation and these certificates were handed on to the Principals/Headmasters/Headmistresses of 45 participating schools and institutions.
