I am a journalist, author, lecturer, social entrepreneur and PhD student (from October 2010), whose professional interests and activities are driven by a commitment to social justice and equality. I have a passion for learning and teaching, I am self-motivated and driven and seek to empower individuals through education and training. I founded the social enterprise People with Voices with the aim of widening access to professional journalism for groups that are under-represented in the mainstream media. This is achieved through the provision of affordable journalism training coupled with work experience in online journalism through our own news website.

New One Day Summer Journalism Workshop for Teens on 13 August 2010

Overview
This is a unique workshop that allows young people aged 13-18 to learn the basic skills of news reporting whilst working in small groups as news teams to produce stories that will be published in the Young Writers section of our online publication. There is also the opportunity for participants to build on the skills learnt after the workshop has ended by continuing to write articles for our website.

Dates 2010
The One Day Summer Journalism Workshop will be held on August 13th.
The workshop will begin at 10.00am and end at 5.00pm with a one-hour lunch break and 15 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon.
Venue
The workshop will be held at Unit 9, Eurolink Business Centre, 49 Effra Rd, London SW2 1BZ, which is 5 minutes walk from Brixton tube station.
Fees
The cost of our one day workshop is £75 inclusive of lunch and refreshments.
