More than a film about prostitution in China, "Pretty Girls" is an intimate portrait of two young women, struggling to support their families.

Poverty drove Aifeng and Xiaoxue o work at a Beijing massage parlour that also doubles as a brothel. Only a glass front separates the women from public view, and the unforgiving eyes of passers-by.

As the Beijing Olympics draw closer, a police crackdown forces the massage parlour to close, and the women to return home. Back in Jiangxi, a poor province in southern China, the women are left without job opportunities. What does the future hold?

Pretty Girls takes you on a journey inside a Beijing massage parlour, and shows China's rapid development through the eyes of those left behind.
