Rwandan Youth Information Community Organisation (rYico) is a charitable organisation founded in 2003 in response to the needs of young people in Rwanda. rYico works to support and empower vulnerable young people in Rwanda through Centre Marembo, a youth resource centre based in Kigali. The young people that attend the centre include those whom have been orphaned, neglected or left in very difficult conditions, particularly as a result of the 1994 genocide. rYico also aims to increase social and cultural understanding about Rwanda within the UK through cultural exchange and education. rYico is run on an entirely voluntary basis so all money donated to the charity is fed directly into it's projects.

Centre Marembo

rYico's training and advice centre, Centre Marembo is developing the following training and adbice services for young people:
Resource library:
Mulit-media library holding all resources related to programmes at the centre plus relevant documents concerning issues such as health and HIV, employment, welfare rights, education, and current affairs.
Counselling Service:
This mentoring and resource facility will provide information and advice concerning welfare rights, services and opportunities.
Working Together Project (WTP):
WTP will be a forum that encourages existing youth projects in Kigali (Rwanda's capital city and the situation of Centre Marembo) to work together and streamline their efforts and resources. It will provide an opportunity for youth groups to meet and discuss upcoming projects, events etc.
Life and Vocational Skills Training:
This will cover topics such as health, nutrition, and household maintenance (many of the orphans are now heads of households).
Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y):
An outreach project that will equip more able youth with advice and information that they can circulate around communities in order to enable those who cannot make it to the centre to also benefit.
