BT Seen And Heard

There's an endorsement today from BT in their annual Seen and Heard awards for the founder of a Gloucestershire based social enterprise, who lives and works in Ukraine.

Terry Hallman's efforts to raise awareness of desperate conditions in orphanages for the disabled, were acknowledged as one of 20 examples of excellence.

Speaking Out

People-Centered Economic Development launched in the UK in 2004 with a primary objective, to persuade US government that for the funds being spent on military intervention in Iraq every week, millions might be lifted out of poverty and empowered to foster democracy, by joint application of broadband deployment, microfinance, social enterprise and reforms to the system of institutional childcare.

The strategy paper reached Ukraine's government and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where Barack Obama was a member, in October 2006.

P-CED operates from the Forest of Dean where it serves government and corporate customers as a software development business, investing profit to fund this mission.

Prior to 2004 Terry Hallman worked as social entrepreneur in Russia where he sourced the Tomsk regional initiative and microfinance bank, which was to pioneer Grameen style moral collateral microcredit in Russia and lead to the formation of the Russian Microfinance Centre in 2002.
