A Journey In The Making

I will be attending the i-genius Thailand Summit in March 2008, not only to network with others, but to also be able to bring my documented story back to Japan and spread it to the masses via my project website UK-JAPAN.net (http://www.uk-japan.net ). I would like for Japanese people to become aware of the opportunities in being able to make global change through collaborations with others across the globe.

I am coming from the angle referring to the fact that Japan is an over consumerist and environmentally damaging country (elaborate neon lights, vending machines, air conditioners in over 90% of homes, etc). In the future, I intend to make many short videos/advertisements/documentaries to raise global awareness to the Japanese people and young people back in the UK via UK-JAPAN.net (incorporating the idea for broadcasting a UK-JAPAN.net TV blog programme). However, I first need to make creative networking connections - and in saying that I honestly don't know what to expect from the Thailand summit .

"I am going in the hope to find something, and to be convinced by the idea of being a social entrepreneur."

I am somewhat skeptical of the whole event (Thailand Summit) and the idea of becoming a social entrepreneur. I am yet to fully understand the concept of what being a social entrepreneur means and how being one can help me reach my goals. Most of you would have already noticed the global movement amongst younger generations to make social and global change for the good of our planet. I want to be apart of this movement, and help others become apart of it also.

Therefore, I would like to invite all members (especially those who are uncertain of being a social entrepreneur) to comment on this blog and my perspective, leave questions that I will seek to answer through my video, and please post any ideas you may have for the progress of this video.

Thank you for your time!

Hi Barry,A social entrepreneur is someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial and innovative principles and solutions to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change. Pictures tell more than words, by making short videos and documentaries of overexploited resources, waste disposal and over pollution will be a good idea. As long you by the end of the video you will have recommendation on the way forward. I will give you more ideas later.
