According to EU research 40% of young people (18 - 24 year olds) in the UK are "officially" binge drinkers (i.e. they drink more than the recommended alcohol units a week). The same research doesn't say how many us 24+ UKers are binge drinkers, however I'd expect it to be an increase on 40% - especially with the stress of the credit crunch to deal with.

In response to this rather startling stat the Home Office have launched a new binge drinking campaign (that's anti-binge drinking, rather than pro!).

As part of this, the Home Office have sunk £4 million into a whole array of media - including some rather eye-catching TV ads, and a rather tasty (or shocking depending on your bent) viral campaign.

I think itis a quality ad but I dont think it would register in a persons mind when binge drinking. I think they would just find it funny.
