Imagine the technology used on X Factor or to find a new Maria, grounded into the community so local people are empowered & engaged in the local descision making processes. Then imagine an online social network (similar to Facebook, MySpace) that actually represents our local geographic community, where we are able to make local connections, be introduced to local people online then pop out the door and meet them in person, trade, swap & freecycle locally, car share locally etc etc etc. Then imagine the proactive nature of Amazon and how all this local information could be presented to you relating to your interests & lifestyle. Once you've imagined all that you've pretty much imagined the project I've been building for the past 4 years - LocalEyes - www.localeyes.org This is a truely grass roots initiative, that is run by & for the community. The bigger picture, once the community model is proven, is to scale up the VOICE element to enable the coordination of public opinion & energy on a county, country & global scale.
