The Social Venture Builder Programme and MA Social Innovation
Are you interested in an opportunity to build and develop your social business? If the answer is yes you would be joining a programme in which you will be making a final pitch to colleagues at Big Issue Invest.
The Social Venture Builder (SVB) programme in partnership with i-genius, University of Northampton and Big Issue Invest has been designed to offer distinctive, innovative, practical models that build skills and competence while developing investable and marketable solutions. The complex social problems all societies face require an approach that is interdisciplinary and focused on both innovation and commercialisation.
The SVB’s ‘incubator programme’ is a product of the universities continued commitment to social enterprise, social innovation and social impact. It has previously supported candidates to attract new contracts in excess of £6m and investment in excess of £500k.
The SVB works with you through a personally developed programme to develop your ideas; scale up an organisation; develop new markets; access appropriate investment and develop your networks and your leadership capacity and competence. The programme is supported by personal mentoring, business support and online resources. The Social Venture Builder can be taken as either a non-accredited CPD programme, or an academically accredited programme up to Master’s level.
The fully accredited programme is taught through workshops, assignments and project work. This is aimed ultimately at producing a sustainable social venture and gaining a Postgraduate Diploma with the option to continue onto a Master’s in Social Innovation.
Topic areas covered include:
- social policy and impact marketing
- procurement and commissioning
- finance and leadership
