IdeaCentricity

targeting the rickshaw community and beyond

Pakistan based IdeaCentricity is creating a market place for low-skilled work much like oDesk is for high-skilled, while leveraging the mobile phone network.

The initial target audience for its service is the rickshaw community, where its system works like Uber and polls the nearest rickshaws for their fares and sends compiled information to passengers along with the service ratings for passengers to select from. The model is easily applicable for other low income jobs including taxi, delivery to home, street hawkers, domestic workers, office workers, etc.

So far IdeaCentricity have built the platform that can be accessible through phone, SMS and the web, while a smart phone application is also being built for the passengers and employers. They have struck partnerships with telecom operators and have enrolled more than 500 rickshaw drivers. IdeaCentricity have also made it to the top 15 start-ups globally in a competition held by Global Initiative Through Science and Technology (here are the links to the article and the video pitch in Malaysia not so long ago). They have also been selected as top 3 companies from Lahore in Pakistan Start-up Cup.
