it’s time to Play 4 Peace

Play 4 Peace won the i-genius / enterbootcamp award for the best social entrepreneur idea at the Big Hope Global Youth Congress in Liverpool, 4-11th June. The winning idea was culminated after four days of social enterprise training during one of the strands of the Big Hope festival. Play 4 Peace is designed to bring palestine and israel children together with the goal of reducing conflict. Although a simulated exercise, the trainers, Luke Aikman of enterbootcamp and Tommy Hutchinson of i-genius both felt the idea had real potential. The runner up team was Reuse, based on a ‘pay-for-rubbish’ recycling proposal.

Over 600 from 55 countries attended The Big Hope event in the European cultural capital city 2008. The teams were made up of Yiyao Wang (China), Aziza Al Yassin (Iraq), Philip Daoud (Palestine), Vocky Barr (UK), Okori John Peter (Uganda), Mainza Muleya Sikabanga (Zambia), Mohammad Karjawally (Palestine), Lachana Hada (Nepal), Aminah Alzha (UK), Atul Sethi (India), Charlene Enokou (Ivory Coast).

Tony Blair’s wife Cherie Booth QC and his former foreign policy supermo Sir Stephen Wall were amongst the speakers along with former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam and the president of Ireland, Mary McAleese.
