i-genius catches up with Adnane after social entrepreneur summit in Morocco

Country:

i-genius: What is the YSI project seeking to achieve?

Adnane: the project aims at raising awareness and build capacities for students, young entrepreneurs and businessmen around the issue of Social Enterprise and how it can be a unique and innovative tool for development through sharing practices and expertise between UK and Morocco in that field.

i-genius: Do you feel it is making a real difference?

Adnane: Change is a process… we can not say it can happen at the moment we want it to happen..! However, over the past three months we have seen a bright change of vision and perspective within our Moroccan youth. For the moment, the major change I saw in their eyes is a great willingness to have a positive social change within our business world. The difference is a new major demand in running outreach activities and seminars on the matter by our partners and participants.

i-genius: What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Adnane: Changing people’s mindset about how can we do good by doing well and that we definitely through our daily actions we can have a change on the society…and that an entrepreneur needs to think about problems as solutions which can definitely can change people’s lives.

i-genius: What do you hope it will look like in a year’s time?

Adnane: with the help of I-Genius 🙂 we wish to establish links between UK-Moroccan Academic institutions and create social venture funds ( or at least seeds of it)… By January 2011 we would have a series of activities, seminars and conferences promoting and presenting our project and the concepts to most students in Higher Education and also work closely with the business sectors to promote create of Social Entrepreneurship Incubators.

i-genius: Is Morocco an good place to be a social entrepreneur?

Adnane: Problems=Solutions= Opportunities … the whole world is a place to be for a social entrepreneur.. for the case of Morocco.. we are an emerging economy which means that a lot of things are happening the matter is only about who will do first… any “good” entrepreneur can have a part of the pie .

i-genius: Do the young ambassadors on the YSI project have what it takes to
be good social entrepreneurs?

Adnane: By spreading the good word.. they definitely are.. and if not they would help empower future ones…

i-genius: You are a bit of a workaholic but what do you like doing when you
are not working?

Adnane: I’m… not so “aholic” I just love what I do 😉 when I am not “working” I am Social networking ;)…I can say that I am kind of People Person.. I love meeting, discovering new people, places… through traveling or simply socializing and also getting involved with Civil Society organizations … from time to time I try to get some rest
By the way.. it’s 1.45 AM.. I need to sleep and I am still getting this article done !

i-genius: Thank you !

Adnane : Thank You YOu 😉
