International Health Promotion Award Winners!

nominations came from across the globe

Six workplace and community-based programs from around the globe that use innovative strategies to improve health and reduce the risk of chronic disease won honors last week in the 2011 International Health Promotion Awards (IHPA) competition, co-sponsored by URAC and the Care Continuum Alliance.

Last week’s winners were chosen by a panel of expert judges comprising health care professionals and policymakers from around the world. Finalists were evaluated by online submissions and their presentations at the Symposium.

i-genius would like to congratulate the six finalists who took home a prize at this year’s International Health Promotion Awards in Rome. Competition was tough with nominations showcasing amazing initiatives like online learning platforms for autism, anti-smoking campaigns to children and telehealth services bringing operating rooms instantly to remote locations.

The winners of the community health category were:

* The Banyan, India

* Riders for Health, Africa

* International Virtual e-Hospital Foundation, USA

The winners of the workplace health category were:

* Apparel Lesothos Alliance to Fight AIDS, Lesotho

* State of Rhode Island, Office of Employee Benefits, USA

* Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil

Well done to everyone across the globe who applied, and especially well done to all the finalists who were called to Rome!
