i-genius founder, Tommy Hutchinson and Chris Durkin, Nottingham Trent University, have co-authored a chapter in a new book on the management of NGOs. Opening with a quote from Queen Victoria, “Change? Why do we need change? Aren’t things bad enough as it is?” the chapter entitled Thinking differently and adapting to change, examines the many factors that pressurise managers into restructuring and looks at the barriers to doing so. Drawing from case examples, the authors set out six approaches to change which leaders can pursue ranging from traditional cost-cutting to a wholesale reinvention of an organisation’s strategy.
