The Common Market is a nonprofit regional food distributor with a mission to connect communities with good food from sustainable family farms. They strive to improve food security, farm viability, and community and ecological health.

Currently operating in the Mid-Atlantic and Georgia, The Common Market is expanding to other U.S. regions to build a nation of vibrant regional food systems. They envision a nation composed of vibrant regional food systems – where interdependent urban and rural communities thrive through relationships that build the health and wealth of all people.

Values

Community: Rooted in community since our founding days, they believe in the potential to build collective power through collaboration across an interdependent food system.

Diversity: CM believe that all environments thrive with greater cultural and biological diversity. The Common Market embodies this value in its organization and all of its relationships throughout the food system.

Local Investment: They believe that by building the strength of regional economies, they can promote equitable health and well-being in urban and rural communities.

Stewardship: CM believe that agriculture can be restorative to the environment. By developing markets for food that is grown with integrity and respect, they can help transform growing practices and heal communities.

Transparency: At every step from seed to table, CM are dedicated to building trusting relationships that ensure food safety, foster accountability and maintain trace-ability.
